Garmisch-Partenkirchen’s skiing tradition was born in Kreuzeck, at the heart of the Classic region. The first skiers practiced their sport at the Hexenkessel (the “witches’ cauldron”) as early as 1926. You will find the classic world cup slopes that lead all the way into the valley, including Kandahar and Olympia, in the region between Hausberg and Kreuzeck. The simplest thing to do is to begin your day of skiing at the Alpspitzbahn mountain station at an altitude of 2,050m. Enjoy the broad slopes in the Osterfeld and Laengenfelder regions before changing to the Kreuzeck and further down to the Hausberg region.
